What is the TRS radiation?

The TRS radiation is part of the energy that goes out from the Earth at the Top of the Atmosphere.
Thus it corresponds to the energy reflected by the Earth system and it holds for Total Reflected Solar radiation.

Why do we need to compute the TRS radiation?

To understand the evolution of the Earth climate, it is essential to compute the Earth Radiative Budget, i.e how much energy is coming in and how much is going out?
The term "how much is going out" is splitted in two parts the TRS and the TET, also respectively called short and longwave.

How to measure the TRS radiation?

The TRS radiation provided by the CM SAF is obtained thanks to the GERB instruments. As the GERB instruments is flying onboard a geostationary satellite, it does not cover the northern and southern polar region that is why we use data coming from the CERES experiment as well.

What kind of TRS data do we get from the CM SAF?

The CM SAF provides three TRS products corresponding to different time averages:
daily mean, monthly mean diurnal cycle and monthly mean.
